Refund Policy

Last updated

This policy explains how payments and refunds work on 2.71. In short: purchases are final and Coins are non-refundable, except in the specific cases described below. This policy is the detailed version of Terms of Service section 4, and the two agree with each other; if you notice a conflict, contact us so we can fix it.

1. What you are buying

You can buy Coins directly in packs, or get Coins through a subscription. Either way, Coins are a closed-loop virtual currency: they have no cash value, cannot be transferred to another user, sold, or exchanged, and cannot be withdrawn or cashed out. Coins are forfeited if your account is closed or terminated. A Coin purchase is not a purchase of a good that can be returned; it is a license to spend that balance inside the Service.

2. Failed generations

If a generation fails on our side, the Coins you spent on it are automatically returned to your balance. This happens without you needing to contact us. It is a Coin credit, not a refund of money, and it is the main way the Service corrects itself when something goes wrong technically.

3. Subscriptions

Subscriptions renew automatically, monthly or yearly, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period: you keep access and any Coins already granted until then, and you are not charged again after that. We do not prorate or refund for unused time in a period you already paid for.

If a law that applies to you requires a renewal reminder before we charge you again, we will send one; otherwise we do not send them.

4. When we refund money

We refund money, rather than crediting Coins, in these cases:

  • Duplicate charges — you were charged twice for the same purchase.
  • Clearly erroneous charges — the amount charged does not match what you agreed to pay.
  • Charges after a confirmed cancellation — you were billed for a period after a cancellation we had already confirmed.
  • Uncredited purchases we cannot fix by crediting Coins — your payment went through but the purchase was never applied to your account because of an error on our part, and crediting Coins is not possible or appropriate.
  • Where applicable law requires it — see section 5 for EU/UK and similar consumer rights.

In every other case, purchases are final.

5. EU, UK, and similar consumer rights

If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction that grants a right of withdrawal for digital content, such as the European Union or the United Kingdom, that right normally lets you cancel a purchase within 14 days without giving a reason. Coins are delivered to your account immediately after payment, and by completing a purchase you expressly consent to that immediate delivery and acknowledge that your right of withdrawal ends once delivery begins. This does not affect your statutory rights if the Service you received was defective or not as described.

To exercise any consumer right that survives this waiver, contact us using the process in section 8.

6. Cryptocurrency payments

Crypto payments are processed by NOWPayments. Payment must arrive in full within the 24-hour payment window shown at checkout. Late payments, partial payments, over-payments, and payments sent on the wrong network are not credited automatically. If this happens to you, contact support with the transaction hash so we can investigate.

Where a crypto refund is owed, we send it only to the originating address, net of any network fees, and we cannot send it anywhere else. Changes in exchange rates between the time you paid and the time of a refund are not grounds for an additional refund.

7. Card payments

Card and wallet payments are processed by Polar, our merchant of record for those transactions. Where a card refund is owed, it is issued to the original payment method and can take five to ten business days to appear, depending on your bank or card issuer.

8. How to request a refund

Email legal@271.dev with the subject line "Refund request." Include your account email, the purchase date, the amount, the transaction ID or crypto transaction hash, and the reason for your request. We acknowledge refund requests within 7 days and decide them within 30 days.

9. What is not refundable

Beyond the cases in section 4, we do not refund:

  • change of mind after a purchase;
  • dissatisfaction with an Output, since AI generation results are inherently variable and we do not guarantee a particular result;
  • unused Coins remaining in your balance;
  • Coins already spent on a generation that completed;
  • subscription time after you cancel;
  • Coins or purchases lost because your account was terminated for violating our policies;
  • purchases made by someone using your account or payment method with your permission, or through your own negligence in protecting them; or
  • loss of access caused by a region block or legal restriction where you are located.

10. Chargebacks

If you have a billing problem, contact us first at legal@271.dev so we can try to resolve it directly. Filing a chargeback or payment dispute instead of, or before, contacting us suspends your account pending resolution and removes the disputed Coins from your balance, and may lead to termination. Abusive or fraudulent chargebacks are handled under our Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Fraud Policy.

If you believe a refund decision under this policy was wrong, you can raise it under our Complaint Policy.

11. Taxes

Prices shown at checkout may not include applicable taxes, which are added where required. Any tax collected on a refunded purchase is refunded with it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes we will update the date at the top of this page, and, where required by law, notify you. The version in effect at the time of your purchase governs that purchase.
